The Toronto Association of Basketball Officials (TABO) seeks constant open communication with our basketball community .. The enjoyment, health and safety of our members, players, spectators, and support staff is paramount. Below is a list of common questions and responses.

How do I become a member of TABO (a basketball referee)?Individuals who have played, coached, or refereed basketball or any other sport(s) may be ideally suited in becoming a member of TABO. As a member of TABO, officiating basketball games, provides no financial guarantees, no benefits, no pension, and no health plan. You officiate because you want to remain close to a game that you enjoy and love. Here are some of the minimum requirements, as outlined below, that one must meet in order to be considered: - Candidates must be a minimum age of 18 years - Available a minimum three (3) days a week (October to April) - Available to officiate games on Friday evenings and throughout the day on Weekends (Rep / Club Ball Games) - Available to officiate weekday games that begin at 3pm (High Schools) - Available to officiate weekday games between 8am and 4pm (Elementary Schools) - Be in good physical condition - Commitment to accept and carry out assignments as determined by the Assignor(s) - Effective communication skills - Commitment to attend all in-class and on-the-floor education and training sessions - Prepared to financial invest in proper referee uniform and equipment - Energetic, diplomatic, organized, and self-motivated - Calm disposition, especially under stressful situations - Provide own transportation - Provide a Vulnerable Sector Background Check & one reference letter upon membership acceptance​ If this is you, then please feel free to fill out the new membership registration form located at the following link: https://www.torontobasketballofficials.ca/tabo-membership

When is the next Prospects (New) Officials Camp?The Toronto Association of Basketball Officials (TABO) annually conducts a Prospects (New) Officials Camp typically during the late summer months, in preparation for the upcoming season which starts in late September - early October. I organize a basketball event and I'd like to request TABO officials. How do I do this and/or who do I contact?TABO only officiates games within the City of Toronto. Please select the "Booking Officials" tab on our home page. There you will find a list of our Assignors who will be more than happy to assist you fill your event with qualified officials, as well you can complete to request form which we will respond to you within 48 hours.
